Driving licence and fitness to drive
- Customers must hold a current valid driving licence, provisional, full or international and produce it on (or in advance of) the first training session.
- The customer must be fit to drive in accordance with legal and medical requirements.
Payments and cancellations
- Payment must be made upon confirmation of booking.
- Payment can be made by card or online bank transfer.
- If the customer cancels a lesson with less than 48 hours notice the customer will be charged for the full cost of the planned lesson.
- Your instructor will do everything possible to ensure that your lessons start and finish on time, but reserves the right to cancel, postpone or change lesson lengths and start/finish times under certain circumstances (e.g., dangerous weather conditions).
- In the event of postponement fees paid in advance will be carried forward.
- The instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson at short notice if it is suspected that the customer may be unfit due to the effects of alcohol, drugs (prescribed or otherwise) or any other condition that would cause his/her driving to be dangerous or illegal. In such circumstances the customer will be charged the full cost of the planned lesson.
- Intensive courses require 7 days notice from the course start date to cancel or amend any lessons. Courses cannot be amended or canceled after the start date and no refunds will be given for part completed courses.
- Customers that cancel short notice more than 3 times will have all future lessons canceled and any prepaid balance refunded minus block booking discounts.
- Customers can request a refund for any unused prepaid lessons and it will processed within 5 working days minus any discounts applied for block bookings on used prepaid lessons.
Bookings and lesson duration
- Your instructor will endeavour to maintain regular lesson slots at the same time each week to ensure continuity of learning, however, this cannot be guaranteed.
- The usual minimum lesson period is 2 hours. Lesson times can be reduced depending on location.
- If for any reason, the instructor is late for the lesson he/she will make a concerted effort to inform the customer of the estimated time of arrival.
- If the delay is greater than 15 minutes this time will be credited to the customer and when possible the lesson will be extended by the time due – if this is not possible the extra time will be carried forward to the next suitable lesson.
- If the customer is late for the lesson it will finish at the pre arranged time and be charged the full cost of the planned lesson.
- If a customer requests a change to the lesson time or pick up/drop off location with less than 48 hours notice the lesson maybe shorter than planned. The full cost of the planned lesson will still be charged.
- If the instructor turns up at the pre arranged time and the customer is not available he/she will attempt to make contact with the customer and wait for a maximum of 25 minutes. After this time the instructor will leave and the customer will be charged the full cost of the planned lesson.
Training location
- All sessions will start and finish at the same location unless alternative arrangements are made in advance.
- The instructor will determine a location for practical lessons which ensures safety for both the customer and other road users.
- This means that the instructor may need to drive to and from the training area and this journey time forms part of the session as paid for.
Training vehicles
- Training vehicles provided by the school are taxed, insured for the purposes of driving tuition, fully roadworthy and fitted with dual controls.
Driving tests
- The instructor reserves the right to refuse use of a driving school vehicle for test if he/she considers that provision of a vehicle could cause a risk to public safety.
- Where a school car is used for test, depending on the time of the test this will require a minimum 2.5 hour session and possibly longer.
- While your instructor will make every effort to ensure that the vehicle supplied for test will be fully road worthy and comply with all legal requirements at the start of the test, he/she cannot be held responsible for vehicle failure that occurs during the test, or immediately prior to the test. In the event of vehicle failure we will refund the cost of the test.
- Your instructor cannot be held responsible for test appointments cancelled by the DVSA due to bad weather, sickness, staff shortages or other reasons.
- Such cancellations are beyond the control of your instructor and therefore the full session fee, including car use on test, will be charged. Your iinstructor will advise about claiming compensation from the DVSA.
Code of conduct
- Your instructor agrees to abide by the conditions of the Professional Code of Conduct (a copy of which will be provided on request).
- In the unlikely event of complaint or dispute the guidelines of the Code of Conduct will be adhered to.
Your rights:
- These conditions do not affect any protection a customer has under consumer legislation.
- We reserve the right to change or alter any of the terms and conditions without notice, but will endeavour to inform customers of any changes as soon as possible.
